UX STRATEGY & UX CONSULTING

UX Evaluation

We evaluate digital products, services, and prototypes using appropriate UX evaluation methods so that you receive concrete recommendations for optimization. You get robust evidence of what works, where users struggle, and which adjustments have the greatest impact on clarity, task success, and conversion.

When do you need what?

Check product or prototype: Usability Tests
We identify concrete barriers along real usage scenarios and prioritize improvements. We also consider the impact on key metrics such as conversion rate, user satisfaction, and task success to derive targeted optimization potential.

Position UX in the market: UX Benchmarking
We compare your experience to relevant competitors and highlight best practices. We prepare the results as a solid decision basis for strategic alignment at management level.

You need user feedback: UX Online Surveys
We capture usage behavior, expectations, and problem areas at scale and segment the results.

Make user behavior visible: Quantitative UX Tests
We analyze usage patterns, funnels, variants, and validate hypotheses based on data.

You need feedback in context: Onsite Surveys
We collect feedback directly during usage – close to moments of friction.

Navigation or structure is unclear: Card Sorting & Tree Testing
We evaluate findability, labels, and paths and derive concrete structural improvements.

Make UX measurable: UX Scores
We develop a consistent measurement model for UX quality to make development over time comparable.

Stadtwerke Bonn

UX Testing

Together with the federal city of Bonn, we will develop a mobility app for Bonn and the surrounding region as part of the 2035 Climate Plan. Whether BONNmobil can serve as the basis for connecting all existing mobility services in Bonn was to be evaluated through UX testing and live tests on site. SKOPOS NOVA was the ideal partner for this, professionally compiling test results covering all aspects and enabling us to develop a user-friendly solution in all respects based on the existing BONNmobil app.

FAQ – UX Evaluation

UX evaluation is relevant for product owners, product managers, UX researchers, and product teams who have a specific product or prototype and want to understand how real users actually complete tasks. It is typically used when there are differing internal assumptions (“it should work” vs. “users don’t understand this”) or when optimizations need to be prioritized. The results provide evidence for decision-making and help replace internal discussions with observable behavior and data.

Usability tests are useful when you want to see how users actually complete tasks – not just how they rate a product. This is especially relevant for new features or redesigned flows, critical conversion journeys (e.g., checkout, registration), and situations with many support requests or questions. The test reveals where users get stuck, misunderstand terminology, break expectations, or fail to find the next step – including concrete recommendations for UX design, content, or flow improvements.

Usability tests typically examine one product (or prototype) in depth and identify concrete issues in the flow. UX benchmarking compares multiple products side by side and evaluates them using the same tasks or criteria. This shows how well features perform compared to competitors, which solutions users perceive as more understandable or efficient, and where your product is stronger or weaker in direct comparison. Benchmarking is therefore mainly a market classification tool and helps define priorities and target levels.

UX online surveys are useful when you need feedback from a large number of users – for example, to quantify perceptions, expectations, and common problem areas and analyze them by segments. Typical questions include: What is unclear or confusing? Which features are used or ignored? How is the overall experience perceived (e.g., effort, clarity, trust)? Surveys are particularly useful when you want to support prioritization with data or measure changes over time.

Quantitative UX tests are used when you want to compare variants or versions and measure differences reliably – for example, two designs, two texts, or two process variants. Typical methods include A/B testing in live products, click/usage data analysis, funnel analysis, and identifying drop-off points. This allows you not only to see what happens, but also to statistically evaluate which variant performs better (e.g., lower drop-off, higher activation, faster completion).

Onsite surveys take place directly during the use of a website or app; online surveys are completed independently. The key difference is timing: onsite captures immediate reactions during usage (e.g., “What was missing just now?”), while surveys reflect an overall evaluation after the experience. Onsite surveys therefore often reveal situational barriers and expectation mismatches that are less visible in traditional surveys because they are highly context-dependent.

Card sorting and tree testing are useful when you want to check whether users find content where they expect it – and whether labels, categories, and paths match their mental models. Card sorting shows how users would group and label content themselves. Tree testing evaluates whether an existing navigation structure is understandable and whether tasks can be completed without detours. Both are especially useful when menus, categories, or information architecture need to be redesigned.

A UX score is useful when you want to compare UX over time, across releases, or between products. It consolidates aspects such as clarity, effort, task success, or perceived friction into a consistent evaluation system with clear measurement rules. This is especially helpful when UX should not only be discussed but regularly measured, tracked, and used as a KPI or quality indicator in decision-making.
